Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of meregisteredagent.org and the registered agent service ("Service") offered by ME Registered Agent.org ("we," "us"). Signing up for the Service or continuing to browse this site means you accept them.

1. What the Service Includes

• A physical Maine street address that satisfies the state's registered agent requirement
• Acceptance of service of process and official state correspondence at that address during business hours
• Same-day scanning of what we receive, with email delivery to you
• A secure online portal where scans are stored and searchable
• Reminders ahead of Maine compliance deadlines, including the annual report

We're a document-handling and compliance-support service — not a law firm, and not a substitute for legal or tax advice.

2. Eligibility

You need to be 18 or older and authorized to act on behalf of the entity you're enrolling. Whatever you tell us at signup — entity name, contact details, formation state — needs to be accurate, and you're responsible for keeping it current.

3. Pricing

• The Service is $99 per year, billed at signup and again at each renewal
• If we ever raise the price, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice before it applies to your account
• State fees — formation, annual report, agent-change filings — are billed separately by the Maine Secretary of State and aren't part of our $99

4. Payment and Renewal

• We charge whatever payment method is on file at signup and at renewal
• A declined charge may pause service until it's resolved; we'll notify you first
• We generally don't refund partial or unused service periods, though we'll look at unusual cases individually
• Coverage renews automatically each year unless you cancel ahead of the renewal date

5. Canceling

Email support@meregisteredagent.org to cancel before your renewal date. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your paid term. If you cancel, it's on you to name a replacement registered agent with the Maine Secretary of State so your entity doesn't fall out of compliance.

6. What We Expect From You

• Accurate entity and contact information, updated when it changes
• Timely attention to what lands in your portal — a scan you haven't opened doesn't pause a court deadline
• Keeping your entity in good standing independent of anything we do
• Using our Maine address strictly for its intended registered-agent purpose, not as a general business mailing address

7. How We Handle Documents

• We accept deliveries Monday through Friday during normal business hours
• Service of process is scanned and emailed the same business day, with no volume limit
• Routine government mail — Secretary of State or tax correspondence — gets the same free scan-and-email treatment for your first three pieces in a calendar year; beyond that, or if you want a physical piece mailed to you rather than just the digital scan, there's a separate per-piece charge
• We don't take responsibility for the legal content or effect of what's delivered to us
• Physical originals are kept briefly after scanning, then securely destroyed

8. Not Legal Advice

Nothing on this site or in our communications is legal advice. If you've been served or have a legal question specific to your situation, talk to a licensed Maine attorney.

9. Liability

To the extent the law permits:

• Our liability for any claim connected to the Service is capped at the fees you paid us over the prior 12 months
• We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages
• We're not responsible for delays outside our control — weather events, postal disruptions, government shutdowns, and similar circumstances

10. Indemnification

You agree to cover us and our staff against third-party claims or costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Service or a violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by Maine law, and disputes are handled in Maine courts.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms periodically. The version posted here, with its update date, governs going forward, and continued use of the Service means you accept any changes.

13. Severability

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

14. Entire Agreement

Together with our Privacy Policy, these terms make up the full agreement between you and ME Registered Agent.org regarding the Service.
